C Kevin Mawae has called a press conference Friday at which he's expected to announced his retirement after 16 seasons. The eight-time Pro Bowl player is also the president of the NFL Players Association.
"It's a time of reflection for me just to think that I (had) the privilege of playing in the NFL," Mawae said on the NFLPA's website. "It's an honor—not a right—and it's something that I don't take for granted. It's one that I cherish."
Mawae played for Tennessee last season.

Sep 10 2010 - Champ Bailey (Broncos)
CB Champ Bailey and the Broncos are "deep" in discussions on a four-year extension, according to the Denver Post. The contract would run through 2014, when Bly would be 36. Sep 10 2010 - Antwan Odom (Bengals)
DT Antwan Odom could be facing a four-game suspension for using performance enhancing drugs. It is currently in the appeal process with no announcement imminent. On Twitter, Odom attempted to refute rumors the suspension was for performance-enhancing steroids, writing: "Please don't believe the rumors. Yes I tested positive for a banned substance but it wasn't steroids or PEDs. ... For now it's a league issue that's under appeal. Just know that I would never cheat to gain an edge in this game that I love."

Sep 10 2010 - Kawika Mitchell (Bills)
LB Kawika Mitchell has been placed on injured reserve with a foot injury. He finished last season on IR with a knee injury.

Sep 10 2010 - Tom Brady (Patriots)

WR Miles Austin agreed to a lucrative long-term extension with the Cowboys after his breakout year in 2009. Austin agreed to a six-year contract extension, but terms of the deal weren't immediately available.
Austin signed a $3.168 million contract as a restricted free agent in June. Management's position remained that the Cowboys wanted to sign him to a long-term pact.

Sep 9 2010 - Jared Gaither (Ravens)
OT Jared Gaither (back) has been declared out for the season opener. He will be replaced at right tackle by either Oniel Cousins or Marshal Yanda.

Sep 9 2010 - Jeff Otah (Panthers)
RT Jeff Otah said he had a minor setback in his recovery from arthroscopic knee surgery and it may cost him the first couple games of the season.
Otah hasn't practiced at all during the preseason and has missed both days of practice this week.
When asked when he hopes to return to the field, Otah said, "Hopefully in the next couple of weeks -- next two or three weeks -- I can get out there and start practicing."
Otah said he has soreness in his knee, but no swelling.
"Things didn't go as planned (in the rehab process), but I have to keep working," Otah said.
Otah said he tweaked it while running.
"I might have pushed myself a little too hard coming back and I had a setback," Otah said. "I'm a little upset with that but I have to move on and get back out there."
Otah said the knee problem is directly related to the torn meniscus he suffered last December which forced him to go on injured reserve and miss the final three games of the regular season. Geoff Schwartz will fill in for Otah this week against the New York Giants.

Sep 9 2010 - Charles Woodson (Packers)
CB Charles Woodson signed a contract extension through 2014, Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations, announced. Woodson was the 2009 NFL Defensive Player of the Year. He had nine interceptions and became a leader of the defense.
Entering his 13th season, Woodson had what coach Mike McCarthy termed a great offseason, as he noted during OTAs.

Sep 9 2010 - Dez Bryant (Cowboys)
WR Dez Bryant is anxious to get on the field, and told the Dallas Morning News: "It's been a long time, man. I just feel like, I'm just ready to unleash.''
He has not played since being ruled ineligible at Oklahoma State last September. He missed the entire preseason this year with a high ankle sprain, and has been cleared to play against the Redskins.
"The main thing is that I have to keep him calm," receivers coach Ray Sherman said. "He's excited and biting at the bit to have a chance to play. It's different. It's not preseason. This is for real. This is live bullets coming at you, so you've got to be ready to adapt. Once he gets that first catch or that first hit, it will help him settle down."
Sherman said it's not so much about tempering his enthusiam as it is about not letting him get too caught up in the moment and forgetting what he should be focusing on.
"It's going to be loud there and he just needs to make sure he is just relaxed and just treat it as if he were going to practice, understand where to line up, what you have to do and just let everything else take care of itself," Sherman said. "Don't try to do too much. It's when you try to do too much that you make mistakes."

Sep 9 2010 - Jake Grove (Free Agent)
C Jake Grove had his contract terminated by Miami in a bit of a surprise move that leaves Joe Berger as the stater for Sunday's regular-season opener at Buffalo. Grove, who started 12 games last season, has been slowed by a left shoulder injury suffered in the third preseason game.

Sep 9 2010 - Dan Orlovsky (Texans)
QB Dan Orlovsky's base salary was slashed from $2.25 million to $850,000, according to the Houston Chronicle. Orlovsky will reportedly receive a $25,000 bonus for every game he's the No. 2 quarterback behind Matt Schaub.

Sep 9 2010 - Tom Brady (Patriots)
QB Tom Brady was involved in a car accident Friday morning. He was not hospitalized. The Patriots, without clarifying his health, said he'd be at Gillette Stadium today.
An eyewitness told the Boston Globe that the accident at 6:34 a.m. was the fault of the other driver -- in a minivan -- who went through a red light. That driver was extracted using the "Jaws of Life" and is hospitalized.
An eyewitness said Brady was shaken and was dusting glass off himself.
"It was really high impact, you could tell. The front of the (Brady's) Audi was off," Hanna LeStrange told the Boston Globe. "He was sort of bent over, looked completely shaken up. He got up and just started wiping his jeans."

The Bengals have seven days to respond to the grievance and decide whether they want to settle. If not, the NFL Players Association and NFL management council will take the case and decide on a ruling.

Bush fractured his left thumb and has surgery late last month,

Sep 8 2010 - Sergio Kindle (Ravens)
LB Sergio Kindle is optimistic that he'll be cleared after completing neurological tests in Baltimore on Tuesday.
Kindle, the team's top draft pick in the 2010 draft, sustained a hairline fracture on his skull after falling down two flights of stairs just days before the start of training camp. Now, he has to wait to see if he'll be allowed to begin his NFL career.
"I'm confident that I'll be cleared," Kindle told The Baltimore Sun on Tuesday night. "I thought the tests went well. But I don't have the final say. When the doctors give the results to the team, that will let me know if I can come back."

Sep 8 2010 - Albert Haynesworth (Redskins)
