New 2010 OVERALLS Coming Soon: T
Player Ratings Last Updated:

PLEASE NOTE: Updates coming soon.

 PLAYER NOTES:

Sep 6 2010 - QB Peyton Manning doesn't think that there will be a huge change in the Colts' offense this season as compared to other years that he's been with the team. "I certainly feel confident in [Clyde Christensen] and what he'll bring to the table," Manning said. "I think it will take some getting used to for a lot of players, [but] I've worked real closely with Clyde the past few years, so I'm looking forward to the relationship growing."

Aug 20 2010 - QB Peyton Manning has heard from owner Jim Irsay that he'll make him the NFL's highest paid player, though both sides seem willing to wait until there is a clarification of where the CBA (which we assume will get done someday) extension will put teams financially when it is completed. Agent Tom Condon told The Sports Xchange that he had Colts' team president Bill Polian have "stayed in touch and discussed some (models)," but that nothing is imminent. It will be surprising now, given the parameters of the club's salary cap, if anything is consummated during the season. The Colts almost certainly will gamble that a "franchise" tag will be available under the tenets of any new CBA -- people from both sides agree that some mechanism will be in place that will allow clubs to protect some players -- but the franchise level for Manning in 2011 figures to be about $23 million. Meanwhile, Colts management is definitely taking a wait-and-see attitude with wide receiver Reggie Wayne and defensive end Robert Mathis, the other two prominent players under contract and who sat out spring practices in an attempt to get new deals. The two may have their contracts adjusted next spring, but not before then. --Len Pasquarelli

Aug 12 2010 - QB Peyton Manning and the Colts are both confident he'll be with the team for years to come. Apparently, neither is working with any kind of deadline for a new deal even though Manning is entering the final year of his contract. "It could happen, sure," Polian said at training camp Thursday. "There's no deadline. There's no timetable. (Owner) Jim (Irsay) never said there way, I've never said there was, Tom Condon (Manning's agent) never said there was." Manning signed a seven-year, $98 million deal in 2004. Irsay said two weeks ago that he would make Manning the highest-paid player in the NFL, even if it meant using the franchise tag. However, with no collective bargaining agreement between owners and players, there's no assurance the franchise tag will be included in the next agreement.

Aug 8 2010 - QB Peyton Manning practiced Tuesday morning with a shaded plastic visor on his helmet. According to the Colts coach, Manning was bothered by a minor eye irritation. "He had a little bit of irritation in his eye and that created a little bit of photosensitivity, so he just put a visor on just to kind of stay ahead of it," Jim Caldwell said. He had a similar problem a couple of years ago during training camp at Rose-Hulman. Manning wore the visor briefly at that time as well.

Aug 2 2010 - QB Peyton Manning has said his contract situation -- his current deal expires at the end of the 2010 season -- isn't a distraction. Perhaps now we know why. Owner Jim Irsay said he will make Manning the highest-paid player in the NFL, even if it means using the franchise tag. "We'll get something done and when it happens just depends," Irsay said.

 INJURY REPORT:

Jun 4 2010 - QB Peyton Manning said the neck surgery he had in March went as planned and has alleviated symptoms that caused him to get three treatments per day last season. "Treatment was time as much as anything, manual traction trying to relieve some things. Three times a day about 25 minutes apiece just got to be tough, very time consuming," said Manning.

May 20 2010 - QB Peyton Manning, who had neck surgery after the 2009 season concluded, has shown no ill effects and has been able to practice.

Apr 1 2010 - QB Peyton Manning appears to be making good progress after undergoing neck surgery last month. "He's in good shape. He'll be fine. He's coming along and we anticipate he'll be able to do the things required of him during the offseason including being ready to throw at OTAs)," head coach Jim Caldwell said.

Mar 18 2010 - QB Peyton Manning continues to make a full recovery after undergoing surgery earlier this month to relieve a pinched nerve in his neck. Manning had been bothered by the problem for the past four seasons. He is expected to participate in the team's spring offseason workouts.

Mar 3 2010 - QB Peyton Manning underwent a procedure March 2 to relieve pain in his neck caused by a pinched nerve that has bothered him on and off for the past four years, the team announced. "This condition has existed intermittently for the past four years, but at no time did it interfere with his training, practice or playing regimen," the team statement read. "While it never has affected Peyton's activity on or off the field, the Colts' medical staff, after post-playoff examination, thought it best to resolve the situation now. "The procedure was performed by Dr. Richard Fessler in Chicago. Peyton had only an overnight stay in the hospital and is on his way home. All medical personnel involved believe the issue has been resolved. Peyton fully expects to participate in the Colts' off-season program this Spring.
