Collins had shown good faith in negotiations by signing his one-year, $3.3 million tender as a restricted free agent. "The Packers always try to be proactive in our discussions with our current players and we are pleased we were able to come to an agreement with Nick," said GM Ted Thompson. "Nick has been an impact player for us, and we look forward to having him continue his career as a Packer." Collins is the first Packers safety to earn consecutive Pro Bowl invites since LeRoy Butler (1996-98).

Collins suffered a calf injury in Sunday's loss at the Pittsburgh Steelers, but it isn't considered to be serious enough to keep the starter from playing this weekend. Collins played the entire game, but he experienced swelling in his right calf Tuesday. Collins may not get back on the field until Saturday, after the team has off Friday for Christmas. So, his status for playing in Sunday's game against the Seattle Seahawks is up in the air.
Nov 3 2009 - FS Nick Collins will be monitored as the week progresses because of an ankle bruise he sustained early in the second half Sunday. Collins returned to finish the game. He should be OK to make the start this weekend.
Nov 2 2009 - FS Nick Collins suffered a bruised ankle in the 38-26 loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. The injury occurred when Collins collided with fellow safety Atari Bigby while defending on a 51-yard touchdown pass to Percy Harvin early in the third quarter. Collins returned to the game. The injury isn't considered serious, so Collins probably won't miss much time, if any, this week.
