 PLAYER NOTES:

Mar 12 2010 - FS Nick Collins has signed a three-year, $23.4 million contract with the Packers, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Collins had shown good faith in negotiations by signing his one-year, $3.3 million tender as a restricted free agent. "The Packers always try to be proactive in our discussions with our current players and we are pleased we were able to come to an agreement with Nick," said GM Ted Thompson. "Nick has been an impact player for us, and we look forward to having him continue his career as a Packer." Collins is the first Packers safety to earn consecutive Pro Bowl invites since LeRoy Butler (1996-98).

Mar 11 2010 - S Nick Collins, a Pro Bowl player the last two seasons, is negotiations with the Packers on a long-term contract after he showed good faith in the team by signing its one-year, $3.3 million qualifying offer as a restricted free agent."He is a marvelous athlete," general manager Ted Thompson said. "He's got range. He's got hands. He's got anticipation. He's a good tackler. He's a good player. He's one of the core guys that we want to have." Collins is expected to participate in the team's offseason program, which begins March 15, after he skipped some of the voluntary workouts last spring in protest of not having a contract extension.

Mar 9 2010 - FS Nick Collins has signed his restriced fee agent tender worth $3.3 million, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Mar 3 2010 - S Nick Collins, a restricted free agent, was made a qualifying offer by the Packers.

Feb 15 2010 - S Nick Collins has warranted the long-term contract extension he has long desired with two straight Pro Bowl appearances and 13 interceptions in that span, but the team isn't inclined to oblige. Ensuring Collins' return with the first- and third-round tender could create a contentious offseason.

 INJURY REPORT:

Dec 27 2009 - FS Nick Collins was in his customary starting spot Sunday, despite missing most of the practice week because of a calf injury he sustained in the previous game.

Dec 24 2009 - FS Nick Collins was held out of everything but the opening jog-through in practice for the second straight day Thursday. Collins suffered a calf injury in Sunday's loss at the Pittsburgh Steelers, but it isn't considered to be serious enough to keep the starter from playing this weekend. With the Packers off Friday for Christmas, the hope is to have Collins involved in an extended team jog-through on the practice field Saturday and then be ready for the game against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.

Dec 23 2009 - FS Nick Collins is on the mend with a calf injury he suffered in the 37-36 loss at the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. Collins played the entire game, but he experienced swelling in his right calf Tuesday. Collins may not get back on the field until Saturday, after the team has off Friday for Christmas. So, his status for playing in Sunday's game against the Seattle Seahawks is up in the air.

Nov 3 2009 - FS Nick Collins will be monitored as the week progresses because of an ankle bruise he sustained early in the second half Sunday. Collins returned to finish the game. He should be OK to make the start this weekend.

Nov 2 2009 - FS Nick Collins suffered a bruised ankle in the 38-26 loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. The injury occurred when Collins collided with fellow safety Atari Bigby while defending on a 51-yard touchdown pass to Percy Harvin early in the third quarter. Collins returned to the game. The injury isn't considered serious, so Collins probably won't miss much time, if any, this week.
