Mar 12 2015 - RB Frank Gore left the 49ers for the Colts Tuesday (March 10), agreeing to terms on a three-year, $12 million contract with $7.5 million guaranteed.
Gore, 5-9, 217 pounds, joins the Colts after playing 10 seasons (2005-2014) with the San Francisco 49ers, where he earned five Pro Bowl nods (2006, 2009, 2011-13) and became the team's all-time leader in career rushing attempts (2,442), yards (11,073), touchdowns (64), 1,000-yard seasons (eight) and 100-yard games (38). He also ranks second in team history in career receptions (342) and receiving yards (2,883) by a running back.
Gore is the 11th player in NFL history to record at least eight 1,000-yard seasons and currently ranks second among all active NFL players in rushing attempts and yards and fifth in touchdowns. He ranks 20th in NFL history in career rushing yards.
Last season, Gore started all 16 games for the third consecutive year and registered 255 rushes for 1,106 yards and four touchdowns, while adding 11 receptions for 111 yards and one touchdown. It marked his fourth straight year rushing for over 1,100 yards. In 2009, Gore posted a single-season career-high 10 rushing touchdowns. In 2006, he earned his first career Pro Bowl selection after setting single-season franchise records with 312 carries, 1,695 rushing yards, 2,180 scrimmage yards and nine 100-yard rushing games.
Since being selected by the 49ers in the third round (65th overall) of the 2005 NFL Draft, Gore has totaled the most rushing yards, second-most rushing attempts and has tied for the sixth-most rushing touchdowns of any player in the NFL over that span. In eight postseason starts, he has notched 140 carries for 646 yards (4.6 avg.) and five touchdowns, in addition to 18 receptions for 167 yards.
Mar 4 2015 - RB Frank Gore arguably will go down as the greatest running back in 49ers history even if he walks in free agency, which is a distinct possibility because of the presence of RB Carlos Hyde, a second-round pick in 2014. Gore, who will be 30 next season, could coexist with Hyde again, but it would have to come at a price far lower than some teams likely would be willing to invest in a guy who finished last season with back-to-back 100-yard games.
Dec 29 2014 - RB Frank Gore rushed for 144 yards in Sunday's win over Arizona. The total was 31 yards more than any other back gained against the Cardinals this season. Gore finished the season ranked ninth in the NFL in rushing with 1,106 yards, his fourth consecutive 1,000-yard season and eighth in his 10-year career. Only 11 players in NFL history have run for 1,000 or more yards eight times. Gore rushed for more than 100 yards in four games this season -- all quality opponents: Philadelphia, Kansas City, San Diego and Arizona. The 49ers went 3-1 in those games, losing only to the Chargers in overtime.
Dec 29 2014 - RB Frank Gore carried 25 times for 144 yards Sunday against Arizona and cracked the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the eighth time in his career. He also became the 20th player in NFL history to rush for more than 11,000 yards in a career. Gore finished the season with 1,106 rushing yards and averaged 4.3 yards per carry.
Dec 24 2014 - RB Frank Gore was one of five 49ers named as NFC alternates to the Pro Bowl. Gore, who was held to 10 yards on six carries when the 49ers met this week's opponent, the Arizona Cardinals, in Week 3, needs 38 rushing yards Sunday to earn his fourth consecutive 1,000-yard season. Gore also received honors from both the media and his teammates this week, being selected by the San Francisco Chapter of the Pro Football Writers of America as the winner of the Garry Niver Memorial Award for professionalism in dealing with the media, and by his teammates as the winner of the Len Eshmont Award for inspirational and courageous play.
Dec 18 2014 - RB Frank Gore returned to practice on a limited basis Thursday, creating a possibility he will be cleared to play Saturday against San Diego. Gore suffered a concussion in last week's loss at Seattle and must pass the NFL's protocol in a short practice week in order to be eligible to face the Chargers. All indications are that Gore will start Saturday.
Dec 17 2014 - RB Frank Gore suffered a concussion in Sunday's loss at Seattle and must pass the NFL's protocol in a short practice week in order to be eligible to face San Diego on Saturday night. Gore did not practice Wednesday and is considered doubtful for this week's game.
Dec 16 2014 - RB Frank Gore scored the 49ers' only touchdown in their loss Sunday to Seattle. It was the 63rd TD of his career. Gore left the game with a concussion, and while he said he was fine afterward, he is unlikely to face San Diego this week.
Dec 3 2014 - RB Frank Gore has more to look forward to than the short trip for a road game this week. He has rushed for 134 and 149 yards in his last two meetings with the Oakland Raiders.
Dec 4 2013 - RB Frank Gore (ankle) was a limited participant in practice Wednesday and will play against Seattle.
