PLAYER NOTES:
Sep 4 2010 - OL Stacy Andrews was acquired by Seattle, which sent an undisclosed draft pick in 2011 to Philadelphia, where Andrews was the starting right guard.
Andrews split practice reps with Max Jean-Gilles last week, but the Eagles also released Jean-Gilles, leaving OG/C Nick Cole atop the depth chart.
It's unclear where Andrews will line up in Seattle, but the Seahawks do have issues along the offensive line with rookie LT Russell Okung questionable for the season opener with a high ankle sprain, LG Ben Hamilton dealing with a knee issue and second-year RG Max Unger eventually expected to take over at center.
Aug 29 2010 - OG Stacy Andrews has not played particularly well in the preseason after contributing little last season. He still is listed as the starting right guard, but split practice reps with Max Jean-Gilles last week.
Jul 15 2010 - OG Stacy Andrews signed a six-year, $38 million free agent contract last year even though he was coming off an ACL injury. While he played in all 16 games, he contributed next to nothing as he struggled to come back from his injury and learn the Eagles' blocking techniques. Nick Cole did an adequate job replacing him at right guard. But with center Jamaal Jackson recovering from an ACL injury and not expected to be ready for the start of the season, Cole likely will be moving to center. Which means Andrews must step up and do a solid job at right guard.
Apr 1 2010 - OG Stacy Andrews, who signed a six-year, $39 million free agent deal with the Eagles last March, just two months after having surgery to repair a torn ACL, started just two games, and mainly played on special teams. The Eagles blamed his lack of production on his slower-than-expected recovery from knee surgery. Andrews blamed it on difficulties learning offensive line coach Juan Castillo's blocking technique and problems making the adjustment from playing mostly right tackle with Cincinnati to right guard in Philadelphia.
Now, though, Andrews said the knee is better than ever and his comfort level with playing inside is much higher.
"I'm ready to take on the role," he said. "I've got big goals for this year. This is the year to get out there and dominate -- just get out there and maul people, man."
Mar 8 2010 - OT Stacy Andrews has agreed to a restructured conract to stay with the Eagles, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. With the new deal, Andrews reportedly will receive his $4.1 million bonus for this year, but that his 2010 base salary will drop from $2.95 million to $1.15 million. Andrews signed a six-year, $38.9 million contract last March, even though he was two months removed from surgery to repair a torn ACL in his right knee. Andrews was ready to play by the start of training camp, but was a major disappointment. Andrews, who was brought in to play either right guard or right tackle, started just two games (at right guard) and played in bits and pieces of eight others, primarily as a blocker on field-goal and point-after attempts.
Sep 21 2009 - RG Stacy Andrews didn't play at all against the Saints. Coach Andy Reid said it was because the knee he had ACL surgery on last February is "fatigued." It's not known whether Andrews will play this week against the Chiefs.
Aug 23 2009 - OG Stacy Andrews is recovering from ACL surgery in January, and while he has been practicing, he hasn't played in either of the Eagles' first two preseason games. The Eagles' projected starting five O-lineman haven't played a down together in practice or a preseason game.
Aug 12 2009 - OL Stacy Andrews (knee) will not play in Thursday's preseason opener. "I'm going to hold him out of this game here," said coach Andy Reid. "Again, he's doing fine. He's been practicing. I'm just taking a cautious approach with him on this.
Jul 28 2009 - OL Stacy Andrews had surgery in January to repair a torn ACL, and might not be ready to practice by Friday. "We will see. We're going to take it real easy on him and stay in communication with him and make sure that he's working real close with (head athletic trainer) Rick (Burkholder), so I'll have an update on him," said coach Andy Reid. "I'm not going to force anything if he doesn't feel comfortable being in a team activity at that time, then we won't do that. We'll just gradually bring him along."
Andrews signed with the Eagles two months later. Andrews, who played right tackle for the Bengals last season, will open camp at right guard. His brother Shawn, who had been the team's starting right guard, is moving outside to right tackle, where he'll replace Jon Runyan.
