 PLAYER NOTES:

Dec 18 2013 - CJ Spiller has been stuffed 27 times, or on 16.7 percent of his 162 rushing attempts this year, the highest mark in the league.

Dec 9 2013 - RB C.J. Spiller rushed 11 times for 22 yards and caught one pass for 26 yards in yet another disappointing showing.

Dec 2 2013 - RB C.J. Spiller reinjured his ankle in the third quarter and was not able to finish the game.

Dec 2 2013 - RB C.J. Spiller erupted for a season-best 149 yards on just 15 carries. His 77-yard run was the longest non-scoring run in team history.

Nov 18 2013 - RB C.J. Spiller was held to an embarrassing six yards on 13 carries in Sunday's win over the New York Jets, and for the season he has just 507 yards rushing and 96 yards receiving. In two games against New York's top-ranked run defense, Spiller carried 23 times for 15 yards. It's a far cry from the projected 2,000 combined yards some felt Spiller was capable of this season playing in the Bills' new up-tempo offense. Spiller's season has been a bust since the very beginning. He wasn't able to enjoy much success in the first four weeks as teams geared up to stop him because they doubted rookie quarterback EJ Manuel could beat through the air. And then once he suffered a high ankle sprain in Week 4 against Baltimore, he has been a shell of the player who gained 1,703 total yards in 2012 and averaged six yards per rushing attempt, second only to Minnesota's Adrian Peterson. The ankle has limited his effectiveness because he's a runner who needs to make explosive cuts, and he hasn't been able to do that. He was inactive against New Orleans on Oct. 27 in the hope that the rest would help, and he returned to gain 116 yards against Kansas City, only to play terribly in the past two games against Pittsburgh and New York (combined 21 carries for 29 yards). There have been only two games this season in which Spiller has played at least 50 percent of the offensive snaps, which is also adding to his frustration. "I have to do a better job," Spiller acknowledged. "I can't just blame it all on my guys up front. I have to do a better job of being disciplined with my track and with my eyes, and just taking what they give me. It's a collective group thing, I just can't sit back and put all the blame on those guys. There were probably a couple of times (against the Jets) where I could have got those (two- and three-yard gains) and not try to bounce it."

 INJURY REPORT:

Dec 2 2013 - RB C.J. Spiller reinjured his ankle in the third quarter and was not able to finish the game.

Oct 30 2013 - RB C.J. Spiller was limited to individual drills and his availability for Sunday due to a high ankle sprain is still in doubt.

Oct 28 2013 - RB C.J. Spiller had been trying to play through a sprained ankle the past three games, but coach Doug Marrone finally decided to shut him down for the New Orleans game. Spiller was trying to gut throuh it until Marrone told him to rest. His ankle, first hurt Sept. 30 against Baltimore, was not getting better, and he needed to rest it, so the Bills allowed him to do that. All week before the trip to New Orleans, Spiller kept saying that he felt better and he wanted to play, but in the end, he also realized it was the smart thing to do. "I wasn't ready," Spiller admitted. "It was Coach Marrone's decision. I respected that. Everybody knew that I wanted to play. I wanted to help us win. But it was best for me so I can get back to playing normally." Whether Spiller returns to face the unbeaten Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday remains to be seen.

Oct 25 2013 - CB C.J. Spiller is doubtful for Sunday's game at the New Orleans Saints because of an ankle injury. Spiller said earlier this week that he feels "10 times better" but coach Doug Marrone countered that he may sit Spiller. Thursday, Marrone said Spiller would be a game-time decision. Spiller has rushed for 362 yards with a touchdown in seven games, averaging 4.0 yards per carry.

Oct 25 2013 - RB C.J. Spiller did not practice Thursday due to an ankle injury, his second day of inactivity. It now looks quite possible that the Bills may opt to make Spiller inactive for the Saints game in the hope that he can get healthy.
