PLAYER NOTES:
Sep 6 2010 - RB Fred Jackson, nursing a broken hand suffered against Washington on Aug. 13, practiced Monday with a protective covering and is coming along well. He's right at the four-week minimum recovery window but ball protection is an issue. The team main lean on the side of caution and rest Jackson another week since Marshawn Lynch and rookie C.J. Spiller are healthy enough to play and can carry the load against Miami.
Sep 1 2010 - RB Fred Jackson, who suffered a broken hand in the preseason opener at Washington, is back practicing with a special brace but remains a long-shot to start the season opener Sept. 12 against Miami. Ball protection and catching hard passes are still a concern.
Aug 31 2010 - RB Fred Jackson (hand) was back at practice but is still limited by a brace on his left hand, which is surrounded by a protective cast.
"Fred did ok. He's rusty," coach Chan Gailey said. "He hasn't done much of anything and has a hard time handling the ball completely, but he moved around pretty good. He's in good shape still. He takes care of himself."
Jackson said he caught passes but wouldn't be able to play with his hand wrapped.
Aug 31 2010 - RB Fred Jackson was back at practice Tuesday for the first time since he broke his left hand and is hoping to be back in time for the Sept. 12 opener against the Dolphins.
Aug 22 2010 - RB Jackson is shooting to return for the Sept. 12 regular-season opener against Miami. Until then, Buffalo's offensive thinkers are working on mostly one-back looks. "I want to get back as soon as I can," Jackson said. "My thoughts are that I definitely want to be back by the opener. That's what I'm shooting for."
