Aug 22 2010 - LB Tully Banta-Cain has been out of action for nearly a week with a reported ankle injury and did not play in the second preseason game.
Jul 22 2010 - OLB Tully Banta-Cain is the leader of the linebacker group on the outside after recording 10 sacks last fall in his return to New England. Banta-Cain evolved into an every-down linebacker by the end of last season, but in reality all the jobs and roles are open for competition on the outside.
Jun 24 2010 - LB Tully Banta-Cain is maintaining the same approach that netted him a three-year deal and $6 million signing bonus. That is, he's playing like he's fighting for his job.
"It doesn't really change much because you still have to go out and prove yourself in camp and the competition is going to be tough and nothing is guaranteed," Banta-Cain said, a year after his 10 sacks nearly doubled his previous six-year total of 12. "I'm just going to take the same approach I do every year. I learned a lot from last year just being on a one-year deal and having to prove myself. I figure if I have that same approach every year I'll have similar success.
"I'm not surprised that I got 10 sacks. I've always felt that I was capable of putting up those kind of statistics. Now it's just a matter of my mentality being the same and having the same approach and just working hard. And hopefully I'll do better."
May 22 2010 - LB Tully Banta-Cain, who was on hand for wide receiver Wes Welker's youth football camp, revealed he had shoulder surgery following the season, according to the Boston Herald. "I'm pretty much there, I'm back," Banta-Cain said of his recovery. "It was a minor surgery. It was nothing major. So I'm good to go."
Mar 11 2010 - LB Tully Banta-Cain's three-year contract includes a $6 million signing bonus and base salaries that escalate from $800,000 next season to $3.8 million during his final year. Obviously, the upfront bonus is the key, but he also has workout and incentive clauses that could land him another $1.7 million per year.

Dec 9 2009 - LB Tully Banta-Cain is suffering from a shoulder injury and participated in a limited amount of Wednesday's practice. He should be available Sunday barring any setbacks.
Dec 3 2009 - LB Tully Banta-Cain has been on and off the practice field this week because of a bad shoulder. Losing him for Sunday would be a big blow since he's arguably been the team's most consistent pass-rusher.
Nov 19 2009 - LB Tully Banta-Cain did not practice Thursday due to a groin injury sustained in Sunday's loss to Indianapolis. His status for Sunday is in doubt.
